Tom Armstrong
Your editor, a novice as you can probably tell.
Was a total waster at school, and left just before 16th birthday largely uneducated. Luckily, the Merchant Navy was desperate so off I went to sea, bound apprentice engineer and half starved and worked half to death for the next five years. Spent a whole working life in the shipping industry, sailing 20 years and reaching the rank of Chief Engineer before going ashore into ship management and eventually into maritime casualty investigation. Just an old fashioned romantic libertarian conservative at heart. Or maybe a romantic conservative libertarian, depending on the stages of the moon.
Your oik of editor hasn’t the foggiest about art or culture, other than vermiculture, on which he is an expert. In his view the two finest works of art are Bullied’s Brighton-built No. 34046 BRAUNTON steam locomotive and the Sunderland-built clipper ship TORRENS.
His favourite painter is Geof Hunt.
