American Vice President JD Vance recently warned that Europe risks “civilizational suicide” if it continues with its illiberal assault on free speech and its insane mass immigration policies. Needless to say, where the MSM here bothered to report on this, they sneeringly dismissed it as the ‘far-Right’ ramblings of a hillbilly hick.
Also needless to say, those doing the sneering never bother to listen to the general population of European countries or Britain, or they would know that many do think we are experiencing the collapse of western civilisation, and that we blame the ruling establishment for knowingly bringing it about.
As JD Vance said “The entire idea of Christian civilisation that led to the founding of the United States of America was formed in Europe. The cultural bonds, the religious bonds – these things are going to last beyond political disagreements, but I think that Europe, and frankly, I would have said this about America a year ago, is at risk, I think, of engaging in civilizational suicide.”
Vance emphasised the open borders policy and multicultural agenda that dominate much of Europe, and the increasingly authoritarian speech restrictions imposed by supposedly liberal governments in the EU and UK:
“They are unable or unwilling – too many countries – to control their borders… You see them starting to limit the free speech of their own citizens even as those citizens are protesting against things like the border invasion that got Donald Trump and a number of European leaders elected”, Vance said.
This resonates strongly with many here, as we see our countries transformed before our eyes into something few wanted or were allowed to vote against. And we all know what happens to those who protest against it – we now face censorship laws in Britain and the European Union that allow Establishment henchmen, or ‘regulators’ to impose ruinous fines against those the State deems to be speaking out of turn. And our jails, here and all over Europe, are filling up with political prisoners.
As Vance says, “If you have a country like Germany, where you have another few million immigrants come in from countries that are totally culturally incompatible with Germany, then it doesn’t matter what I think about Europe. Germany will have killed itself”. He could equally be talking about France or Britain.
Many of us now hope that the Trump administration will rescue us from the evil of our own government, and many more cheered Vance’s message at the Munich Security Conference when he told Europeans that the greatest threat facing the continent is those who destroy liberties from within, rather than from external actors like Russia or China i.e. British and European governments.
As we all know, we in Britain, together with the continental countries that are going down the mass immigration and multicultural plug hole with us, face the extreme challenge of maintaining national identity while fostering social cohesion in an increasingly diverse society. As Vance correctly identified, the biggest cause of this challenge and obstacle to solving it is the woke globalist establishment that is entrenched in every nook and cranny of our national life, made manifest by the Uniparty and its civil service enforcers (or masters).
The cultural war the Establishment is waging against the British people is being fought on many fronts; economic, electoral, educational, legal, psychological and more, but it is mass immigration that is, perhaps, the most dangerous, especially when coupled with the extreme multiculturalism we now see being enforced with extreme autocracy, where there are serious plans to implement blasphemy laws and to give preferential treatment before the law to groups the Establishment identifies as their own. Make no mistake, ‘open borders’ are Establishment policy, with all factions of the Uniparty giving millions of taxpayer’s money to ‘charities’ that openly support open borders, when in office.
Most people here and in Europe perceive that the biggest threat – that in plain sight anyhow – western civilisation faces is that of Islam, seen by many as alien, intolerant and intent on domination. This is not an unreasonable point of view, but it is based on conflating Islam with Islamism. Again, this conflation is not unreasonable, as it is Islamism that is promoted by the globalist establishment, both directly and by means of its segregationist multiculturalism.
Islamist extremism is a radical, supremacist ideology that emphasises certain passages of the Koran over others to justify violence and terrorism. It obviously poses a significant threat to national security and community harmony. Most reasonable people would agree that it has to be fought and beaten. The main question is, how do we do that?
As it is my belief that the main power behind Islamism is the Globalist Establishment, it follows that they must be the main target of our efforts to supress Islamist supremacism and extremism. The Establishment must be opposed and opposed vigorously, but this article is about how we should deal with Muslims. Not the extremists, ordinary Muslims, who must be the majority, as extremism is not a normal human attitude, in any society.
So, to effectively counter the threat of Islamism, I think it obvious that we, the patriotic and socially conservative majority, must engage with moderate Muslims, who represent the vast majority of the Muslim population in the UK, and who are also socially conservative. Ah, I can hear you saying, they might be socially conservative, but they sure as hell aren’t patriotic.
And you are right, they are not, but not as right as you might think. It is my opinion that, if we had a socially conservative, patriotic government prepared to make demands of Muslims to integrate and accept our values, we could turn the Muslim population into patriots.
A recent report found that a majority of British Muslims identify with their religion over their nationality. The Institute for the Impact of Faith in Life interviewed 815 British Muslims and found that over seven in ten (71 per cent) identify as Muslims first, with just 27 per cent primarily identifying as British.
There you go then, skeptics will be saying, that proves that Muslims cannot be integrated, not no way, no how. But does it? The same report found that younger people, who were born here, in this country, were far more likely to identify as Muslims first at 85 per cent. In contrast, a majority of older Muslims, 57 per cent, identified as being British first.
I see that as equally alarming and encouraging. But to me it shows that if we had a government that made the effort to encourage Muslims to integrate and identify as primarily British over Muslim, then the majority of them would do so. But instead, the British Establishment does exactly the opposite: it encourages segregation. It pays for and licenses Muslim schools, supports Islamic ‘charities’, panders to the Islamist voice, appeasing it at every opportunity and legislates in its favour. Muslim children are taught that Britain is racist, and that they are the victims, and imams in mosques preach extremist rhetoric without fear or inhibition. That 85% is the outcome.
The Director of Research of the organisation whose report is quoted above claimed that the main driver of people identifying as Muslim first was not a “loyalty to Islam” but rather “about not feeling welcomed to identify as British first.” If so, that is entirely the fault of the British Establishment, not the British people. It suits the Establishment to foment division and hatred, and in my view, it is they who are primarily responsible for ‘Islamophobia’.
Staying with that report, it found that a majority of British Muslims say that they prefer living in the UK than a Muslim-majority country. Dwell on that for a second, as it is very telling. The majority of British Muslims do not want to live in a Muslim-majority country. We really do need to contact that majority and work together to stop the Islamists turning Britain into a Muslim majority country.
Moderate Muslims could be key allies in the fight against Islamist extremism. These individuals and communities are often the first to be affected by the actions of extremists and we need to gain their trust so that a genuinely patriotic and conservative government can tap into their knowledge, and experience and use it against the extremists. To do this we need free speech and open dialogue with those willing to join us.
In the end, we share many common values, including a commitment to family, education, entrepreneurship, and community service. By highlighting these shared values, conservatives can create a platform for collaboration and mutual understanding.
It won’t be easy, as many moderate Muslims do not trust the British authorities to side with them against the extremist, so it needs, in the beginning at least, to be a non-governmental initiative based on a pride in British values and the expectation that Muslims will move towards us. In return, we can offer peace and acceptance.
Social integration is a cornerstone of a stable and harmonious society. By actively engaging with moderate Muslims, British conservatives can promote a sense of ownership and belonging among them, a crucial strategy for those of us who want to preserve our civilisation and society. By building trust, promoting shared values, and supporting initiatives that amplify the voices of moderate Muslims over the extremist, we can create a more inclusive and resilient society. In a world where divisions are exploited for political gain, fostering unity and understanding is the most effective way to defeat the forces of extremism and build a brighter future for all citizens.
Remember – the British establishment is the real enemy.
