Trump Survives Another Assassination Attempt

By Tom Armstrong on

To nobody’s surprise Donald Trump has been shot. The 45th president of the United States has long been the subject of a virulent and violent hate campaign by the Left and MSM in general, including our very own hate-filled BBC. Just recently one of their presenters, David Aaronovitch tweeted that Trump should be murdered, saying that “If I was Biden I’d hurry up and have Trump murdered on the basis that he is a threat to America’s security,” Aaronovitch is still at the BBC.

Unsurprisingly, there have been several incidents in which trump's safety was threatened, including assassination attempts. Many think that the MSM’s treatment of Trump and these incidents are related.

In June 2016, a 20-year-old British man from Surrey, Michael Steven Sandford, attempted to grab a police officer's pistol, later telling the US Secret Service of his desire to murder Trump and indicating that he would try again. Sandford was treated surprisingly leniently, the US judge telling him that “You should not be ashamed or embarrassed about it. You need medication. “You’re not a hardened criminal. You’re not evil or a sociopath like a lot of people we have” before sentencing him to 12 months and one day's imprisonment. Sandford served only five months. On his return to Surrey, the BBC ‘s main concern was its “…fears Mr Trump might seek to intervene and keep him in jail for longer, or block his return to the UK.”

More attempts on Trump’s life occurred while he was in office. In September 2017, in North Dakota, Gregory Leingang stole a forklift and attempted to drive it toward the presidential motorcade. He later admitted that he was trying to kill Trump by flipping the presidential limousine. Predictably, his lawyers’ defence was that he was “suffering a serious psychiatric crisis” during the incident, for which he was sentenced to five years in jail.

In October the next year an envelope laced with ricin was sent to Trump by William Allen, who pleaded not guilty. Another ricin attempt was made in September 2020, when Pascale Ferrier wrote, in a ricin-laced letter addressed to Trump, that he should drop out of the 2020 presidential election and that he is an "ugly tyrant clown". She was sentenced to nearly 22 years in prison and said at her trial that she considered herself to be an “activist” rather than a “terrorist.”

Is it possible to claim that the MSM’s deranged vilification of Trump before, during and after his time in office has played no part in creating an atmosphere in which some think it justified to kill him? I think not. While there have been reports of threats, there have been no serious attempts to assassinate Obama or Biden.

By the grace of God Trump survived, and many now think that the shooting and images of a bloody but defiant Trump will significantly boost his election prospects. We can only hope that this is correct, as we desperately need a US president from outside the woke globalist cabal that is destroying the western world.

It might be instructive to look at the effect of an attempted assassination on another conservative president that the Left and MSM hated almost as much as they hate Trump. On March 30, 1981, Ronald Reagan was shot in the chest outside a Washington, D.C. hotel by John Hinckley, who fired six shots hitting Reagan and three others.

Reagan was shot in the left lung, the .22 calibre bullet just missing his heart. The 70-year-old President then walked into hospital and as he was being prepared for surgery quipped to his wife, Nancy,” Honey, I forgot to duck,” and to his surgeons, “Please tell me you’re Republicans.”

The next day, he signed a piece of legislation from his hospital bed and on April 11, returned to the White House. Reagan’s popularity soared after the assassination attempt. No doubt Trump’s will as well. Expect a renewed campaign of spite and vilification after a few days of muted comments of regret at the assassination attempt.

Reagan’s would-be assassin Hinckley by the way, was found not guilty by reason of insanity, a verdict that aroused widespread public criticism. In the late 1990s it was argued that his mental illness ‘was in remission’ and he was allowed day trips out and to visit his parents once a week. In 2016, he was given a conditional release.

Will anybody be surprised if the MSM decides that Trump's would be assassin, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who killed a member of the public before being killed himself, was a lone-wolf mental case wholly uninfluenced by the media’s Trump Derangement Syndrome. It’s early days yet, and little or nothing is known about Crooks, but that’s my bet.
