Read Allison Pearson's superb piece in the DT if you can. She went walkabout with Farage in Clacton and reports wittily and sympathetically just how popular he is there. Pearson is one of the best journalists around at the moment, often willing to break ranks with the woke MSM and one of the very few to write anything good about Farage. The coverage in the Spectator for example has been terrible.

Allison reports how different Farage is to the 'leaders' of both the Labour and Tory parties, who never go anywhere near the public and who "have conducted dull, prophylactic campaigns, speaking largely to supporters in sanitised environments pre-swept for members of the public with awkward opinions". She compares that with Farage stopping in the street to debate with a bloke upset with his comment that Nato bears part of the blame for the war in Ukraine.

“The bland leading the bland,” Farage had commented about Sunak and Starmer. “Without humour and meeting people, there’s no bloody point”. And Amen to that.

And encouragingly, Pearson mentions that a 15-year-old boy told her that Reform had won the mock general election at his Kent secondary school.
